Here is an overview of my phone screen time and pick ups between 23rd - 29th December 2024.

While there was a significant increase in screen time this week, it has become apparent that if you’re listening to something via Spotify or using Maps via Apple play in your car then this contributes to your screen time statistics.

You can see this outcome based on the time spent on the Spotify and Maps apps. While I am a little gutted this is the case, if you reduce the time I have spent on these apps to previous week averages i.e. about 30 minutes for Spotify and practically nothing for Maps, then the weekly total would be more around my normal range of 3.5 hours of screen time per week, or 30 minutes per day.

I believe this continual decrease in phone pick ups justifies my point in the above text. There is still work to be done here, because at an average 30 minutes of screen time per day, this is suggesting I am picking up the phone and looking at it for roughly 1 minute each time I pick it up.

If I can accumulate a set of tasks I am required to achieve on my phone and complete them at 3 to 4 different points during the day, then I believe this will reduce pick up’s and increase efficiency i.e. further reduce the time spent looking at my phone screen.
